...Man, thunderstorms suck. Really not a whole hell of a lot to do out there today... If someone has an idea of what to do for now, I'm open to suggestions.

Well, I'm more looking forward to tomorrow. If the weather's decent, I'd like to spar with a few people. Terra, we still haven't had a chance to fight yet, and I've owed you that for like, a month. So we need to do that! Flynn, if you're not busy, I wouldn't mind a go at it either.

And Goku! You and I have to fight too! It'd be good to have a strong, friendly rival fistfighter here!

I'm also open to any others who may want a battle in the future. Gotta practice and not get rusty!

Then let's begin!

[Adell lunges forward with surprising speed, winding up a punch and sending it Simon's way!]

[Simon dodges to the side, twisting around and using the momentum to swing his whip at Adell]

[Anticipating the move, Adell spins away from the whip-crack, widening the distance between the two of them.]

[Simon uses the distance to his advantage. He advances, snapping the whip quickly.]

[Adell backpedals away from the whip quickly. In response, he backflips further back. In an instant, Adell's hands seem to light on fire as he charges forward like a bull.]

[Simon is caught off guard by the sudden move. He attempts a dodge, but he is partially hit on the left shoulder. Pain explodes in his shoulder, but he keeps his head and swings his whip again, aiming for Adell's back, but mostly just hoping to get some space]

[Unfortunately for Adell, the Crimson Flame tends to leave him open for an immediate counterattack... and Simon's Vampire Killer finds its target! Pain visibly wracks Adell, as the holy whip strikes him squarely. The amount of power the whip displays against Adell should strongly suggest he's not human...]

[Adell spins around quickly and readies a defensive stance, but doesn't take an aggressive action.]

What the hell is that thing? It felt like I was hit by lightning!

[Simon halts his attack immediately, surprised by Adell's reaction]

It's called the Vampire Killer. It is made to fight vampires and demons. It shouldn't hurt a human so badly.

[Adell's face pales as he lowers his stance.]

...Demons?

Yes. My world is full of demons who kill humans without mercy. I hunt them

[Adell fully lowers his guard, which he hopes isn't a mistake.]

I... see.

Simon, uh... I gotta level with you. ...Well, I'm... not really a human. I'm actually a demon. But I'm not one of those demons from your world.

[Simon's eyes narrow]

I see. That explains that attack. It felt like fire. You're different from the demons in my world? A man named Geneus suggested that might be true of vampires I find here, too.

Yeah. Demons from where I live tend to vary greatly in temperament, power, and alignment. Some are evil, others aren't. Still others are good or have hidden noble tendencies. Some demons are weak, others are very strong.

I was actually raised by a human family. ...Most of my life, I thought I was a human. Turns out I wasn't. It's... kind of complicated.

[That wasn't what Simon had expected to hear. He takes a few moments to think about what Adell is saying. He'd expected lies, but he hadn't expected anything like this story]

200 years ago my family's enemy, Dracula, was defeated by a man named Hector. This man was a Devil Forgemaster, a human with the rare ability to create demons. In other words, demons fought to protect humanity. I... don't know whether to believe you or not. But I don't think you planned to kill me today. It seems as if you've been honest with me the entire time.

[But still... he was a demon...]

I didn't even know you hunted demons and vampires before now. But honestly? That doesn't bother me. It sounds like you really help people where you're from. And I can understand if you don't really trust me.

I'll do my best to prove to you that I'm one of the good ones.

[For some reason, the guy seems so earnest that Simon really wants to believe him.]

In that case, I will try to keep an open mind. There are so many different types of demons. They aren't like vampires. Perhaps you are one of the good ones...

I'll do what it takes to prove it.

But... Simon, I have to tell you something else. You're the only one here who knows I'm actually a demon. Everyone else assumes I'm a human. Thing is, I really don't want to cause panic here. No one's ever asked me if I was human or not, so I've never brought it up.

[Simon has to think about this for a while. It's a difficult decision. Adell was clearly powerful, and could be dangerous to others. But... Simon didn't want to cause a panic either, especially if Adell truly had a good heart.]

Very well. I will remain quiet, but I will be watching you.

I understand. And thank you, Simon. I don't intend to lie about my heritage if pressed, but if no one asks, I'm not going to say anything. It's just... easier that way.

[Simon says nothing. He's still uncertain as to whether keeping the truth about Adell quiet is the best decision.]
